So Far Away web templateI just finished my first web template that I will be uploading to all sorts of places. This template validates to xhtml transitional and the css validates at w3c.org.

I have a lot to learn even though I’ve been working with web pages and html since the mid-90’s, using css for layout has been a real challenge. Theory and practice are such different animals.

So, I ended up making this template because I started a layout tutorial that I quickly discovered was rather outdated and moved on to another site. I was just putting some of this information into practice and this is what happened.

I have a little ways to go regarding accessibility, but overall I think it’s not too bad for just dinking around.

I have some other things I’m playing around with too and maybe they’ll find there way up to the free Internet.

This is nice! I just added the WordPress sidebar for FireFox and am testing it out.

I think I’m going to live in Firefox now. I got my other sidebar tools in here now and have had my development tools…just need my coffee!

Okay, I did it. Finally quit smoking. I was planning to when I was supposed to start training for the tri (which I want to do for next year). So, June 20th both Mike and I quit smoking!

I think our friends keep track of the days more than we do. Our whole idea is to not think about smoking. I tend to count in monthly increments and tack on the weeks if I need to. So, I’m approaching three months now.

Almost a month ago I went to the ER because I had really bad heartburn and chest pains. It was pretty scary, but I didn’t think it was heart related. But, it was still scary and it hurt a lot. So off I went.

Anyway, it’s getting late, so to make a long story short we think it was a combination of factors. I’ve been eating stuff I haven’t been eating in a while, a lot of extra stress, and the whole quit smoking thing. One of the doctors told me that when you smoke it desensitizes the hairs in your lungs. So, when you quit smoking they can become irritated. Tack on a long vigorous walk to scatter things all around and there’s a recipe for a bit of discomfort!

Good news is my heart is 100% healthy. Bad news is it’ll be a year before I’m human again! Uggh!

Web design…finally

Oh, what a great feeling! We are finally creating a website. Of course, not for us just yet, but for a client. Mike and I have crammed so much into our fat little heads it’s unbelievable. I don’t think there’s any room left for air.

So far looks like we make a pretty good team if we aren’t trying to kill each other. Now, if I can’t get my blog hosted over on our server I’ll be happy! Then I’ll have more stuff to customize.

I think I have been floating in my sleep and I have to remember to clear both before I get up in the morning or I’ll end up outside the box! Hey, that’s where I’ve been all these years. Should have known I just need to clear myself!

Okay, it’s late and it’s been a long week. I’m just excited and now I think I know what I want to be when I grow up! So what if I already have 20 years in another career field!

TTFN!

I got the comment from Evan today about posting the button link to the Flock website. Yes, I was going to do that, thank you for the reminder!

BUT….the instructions for WordPress weren’t as simple as they appeared to be. So, Evan, if’n you are readin’ this - here’s what needs to happen:

When copying the code it must be stripped down to the bare naked url. Trust me on this one, it likes to be naked. So, to get the button that I have on my site, the two lines of code for the link and the Advanced Image urls are:

1) Link

http://spread.flock.com/buttons/?user=&ref=Get-Flocked.png

2) Img

http://spread.flock.com/buttons/Get-Flocked.png

No quotes, less than or greater than signs, no a links. WordPress doesn’t like those and will spit them back out at you in the form of 404 errors.

Alas - I now have the wonderful button! Yipee! This is now my new saying!
